Supervising First Aid for Mental Health Level 3

After this two-day course, trainees will be able to lead their teams and colleagues when it comes to looking after each other’s wellbeing at work.

What are the consequences of ignoring workplace mental health?

Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental illness each year. Failing to recognise these issues and respond appropriately can often make things worse for an employee, and an organisation can even open itself up to an expensive and time-consuming compensation claim.

£1 invested in mental health support for employees will see an estimated return of £5 through reduced absences. A sensible target is to have one Mental Health First-Aider for every 10 employees.

Why take our Supervising First Aid for Mental Health Level 3 course?

Throughout this intensive two-day training session, participants will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to:

2

Create a first aid action plan for mental health in the workplace

1

Recognise and manage symptoms of common mental health conditions

3

Encourage conversation, listening and support at work

Encourage a positive mental health culture at work

Commitment to improving mental health in the workplace shows to be one of the biggest financial impacts to a business. Gain an approved and recognised qualification and encourage a positive mental health culture at work.

Trainees will explore issues such as stress and anxiety, and how to recognise and manage the signs and symptoms. Together the course participants will look at active listening and mental health in the workplace, create a first aid action plan for mental health and think about implementing a positive mental health culture at work.

Day two involves a deeper dive into a wide range of mental health issues, enabling managers and team leaders to provide more empathy and understanding into what colleagues may be going through, signposting to appropriate support and encouraging a more open, honest and hopefully productive environment.

BSC’s qualified instructors, in partnership with NUCO Training, use their experience and expertise in the international classroom to make this course interactive, purposeful and engaging.

A Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. This qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is strongly recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training. The learner will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years.
