About Erasmus+
Erasmus+ is the European Union's flagship programme for education, training, youth, and sport. With a budget of over €26 billion for 2021-27, it offers millions of people the opportunity to study, train, volunteer, and gain international experience across Europe and beyond.
Who can take part?
Erasmus+ is open to a wide range of individuals and organisations, including students, teachers, school staff, adult educators, and vocational training professionals. Eligibility depends on your country of residence and the specific Erasmus+ action you are applying under. Your national agency will be able to confirm your eligibility and guide you through the application process.
Key Action 1
The majority of our Erasmus+ participants come to BSC under Key Action 1 (KA1), which funds international mobility for learners and staff in education and training. KA1 is the most funded action within the Erasmus+ 2021-2027 programme and is open to participants from primary, secondary, higher, vocational, and adult education settings.
KA1 funding can cover travel, accommodation, and course fees for eligible participants, making it an excellent way to access high-quality English language or professional development training in the UK or Malta at little or no personal cost.
How to apply for funding
Funding is applied for by your sending organisation (typically your school, college, university, or employer) rather than by you as an individual. There are two routes:
- A single project application, where your organisation applies annually for a one or two year mobility project, with application deadlines typically falling between February and March each year
- Erasmus+ Accreditation, where your organisation applies for accreditation covering the full duration of the programme, giving easier access to annual mobility funding on an ongoing basis
If you are unsure which route applies to you, contact your local national agency for guidance. A full list of national agencies is available on the European Commission website.
Can individuals apply for Erasmus+ funding directly?
In most cases, funding is applied for by your sending organisation on your behalf. Speak to your school, college, or employer in the first instance.
