What's in the course?
Our Speaking and Listening classes focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, such as climate action and reduced inequalities. Each week includes conversations about one or two of these goals, allowing students to practise their English in a real-world context.
The afternoon lessons of our intensive courses focus on Skills for Career & Academic Success. Gain the future ready skills required by universities and employers around the world.
Elective afternoon lessons
Those studying our intensive and semi-intensive programmes will benefit from a variety of options in the afternoon depending on their goals and preferences. Our electives (which vary across BSC locations – please contact us for more information) include:
Language Workshop
Covering areas such as vocabulary, grammar, writing, pronunciation and more, according to the needs of the class.
Immerse and Explore
Research and prepare for an immersive lesson in a local area of interest. Boost your confidence by engaging with native speakers in authentic situations, and applying your newly acquired language skills in life outside the classroom.
English Skills for AI
With English for AI Skills, you’ll use AI tools to produce engaging and authentic materials while completing a range of real world work and study tasks. This will improve both your English and AI skills, equipping you to succeed in the modern world. (Only available at BSC Brighton, York and Manchester).
Foundation Skills for IELTS
Those who are not at the level to join our morning IELTS preparation course are able to develop skills and strategies to achieve exam success alongside their English Language Training.

In the afternoons, students who wish to focus on specific language needs can book private one-to-one lessons with one of our expert teachers. These tailored sessions are designed around your personal goals, whether you want to develop English for a particular career, area of study, or hobby.

This personalised approach will leave you feeling more confident and capable in using English effectively in the situations that matter to you.
